Professional Development Conference
For the past four years, UofL’s chapter of EWB/AWWA/WEA has hosted a day-long series of lectures for the continuing education of local engineers and UofL engineering students. Proceeds from the conference go to the EWB UofL General Fund, which helps us support our local and international service efforts. Specifically, it will benefit our work funding and building a truss bridge in the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica where locals do not have safe means of transporting their goods to market across the river Riyito. Profits will also go towards supporting our local service efforts monitoring water quality in a Louisville-area stream with the Louisville Metro Sanitation District, as well as building playground equipment for Animal House Adoption Center in Louisville. Read more about these service efforts in the Projects tab.
The 2019 theme of the Professional Development Conference is The Future of Kentucky &Louisville. It featured UofL professors, a graduate research student, a Louisville CEO, and an MSD employee talking about their efforts to modernize our great state in the areas of bourbon, biomass/crops, alternative coal, structural health/resilience in concrete and the water district.
