For this project, our chapter is joined by consultants from Michael Baker International and EWB-USA to fund and build a 100ft vehicular Bailey truss bridge in Costa Rica. Farmers in the region of the Osa Peninsula struggle to get their goods across a rickety wood-and-cable bridge to markets past the river. Learn more about how we are working with the surrounding communities to provide a safe and sturdy solution.
Professional Development Conference
For the past four years, UofL’s chapter of EWB/AWWA/WEA has hosted a day-long series of lectures for the continuing education of local engineers and UofL engineering students. Proceeds from the conference go to the EWB UofL General Fund, which helps us support our local and international service efforts.
The UofL Engineers Without Borders and Water Professionals project, also part of the American Water Works Association and Water Environment Federation, is assisting the watershed environment and public works in the Louisville Metro community.
“Engineers Without Borders has made me a better engineer, leader, and has made me see a world beyond my studies.”
- Kurtis Dotson, project lead, 2016
